Inna Lazareva is a British multimedia journalist who focuses on feature stories and investigations from around the world.

An award-winning investigative reporter, she was previously Africa correspondent for the Thomson Reuters Foundation based in Cameroon, Caucasus correspondent reporting from Georgia, and twice Israel-Palestine correspondent writing for the Sunday Times and other publications. Reporting in print, online, radio, TV and through podcasts, her work has been published by The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, PBS Frontline, PBS Newshour, Channel 4,  TIME magazine, Al Jazeera and others. She has been interviewed by the BBC, Sky News, RTE and other major news channels.

Inna is best known for her in-depth investigation exposing the brutal practice of 'breast ironing' taking place in the UK. Her series of reports for The Guardian led to real-world change: the topic was debated in UK parliament, more victims came forward, and a few months after publication, the Crown Prosecution Service changed its legal guidelines, adding a punishment of up to ten years in prison for perpetrators of the crime.

Her other key reportage includes an on-the-ground investigation into the deaths of over a hundred children killed as a result of gold mining activity in eastern Cameroon,  the abuse (rape, harassment, exploitation) of Ukrainian women who have fled war at home and sought a safe haven in Israel, the decades-long extortion of foreign caregivers in Israel, the persecution ofLGBT athletes in Africa, and corrective rape of girls. 

Inna also worked on two long-form TV investigative documentaries into the sex abuse scandal by United Nations peacekeepers in the Central African Republic for Sweden's SVT (Mission: Investigate), US's PBS Frontline and UK's Channel 4. The Swedish documentary won 'Global Investigation of the Year' award at the British Journalism Awards, and the PBS Frontline investigation won the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Journalism award and was nominated for an Emmy.

Inna began her journalism career with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, before moving to the Middle East and specialising in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, where she has spent a total of six years (2012-2016 and 2022-2024) covering the region as a foreign correspondent for international outlets as both a staff writer and a freelancer. Between 2013 and 2016, she also produced and hosted her own fortnightly radio show for TLV1 FM.

Inna was twice selected for a reporting fellowship with the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF). Her reporting was nominated for the Orwell Prize: Exposing Britain's Social Evils. She was a finalist for International Journalist of the Year by One World Media, as well as for a Children in Conflict Reporting Award. She was also long-listed for the Private Eye Paul Foot Award for Investigative Journalism.

She speaks five languages and has an MSc in International Public Policy from University College London.
